Today, Rich shares the story of his long journey as a public speaker, hoping to instill in others a sense of hope and possibility.  One of his more recent speeches before the 2008 graduating class at Felician College is available under the videos link.



 

Today, Rich still faces daily struggles as a result of his illness, but with the support and love of his family and friends, he perseveres and proves an inspiration to all.

Once Rich miraculously came out of his coma, he began the long journey home that saw him in the hospital and then rehab for over a year.  Determined to keep his spirits up, his family and friends rallied to his side creating a weekly schedule of visitors so that he was alone as rarely as possible.

While Rich was in a medically induced coma in the ICU, his family kept vigil either at his bedside or in the hospital waiting room.  Some might say they took the waiting room over entirely.  They even went so far as to name the waiting room Club Richie.
